Understanding of the development of early 20th century synthesizers.
Understanding of the development of monophonic and polyphonic analog synthesizers.
Understanding of the development of Samplers, Drum Machines, and Sequencers.
Understanding of the development of digital synthesizer algorithms such as FM, Granular, and Physical Modelling.
Understanding of the basics of sound, such as loudness, envelopes, overtones/partials/harmonics, and timbre.
Understanding of the basics of digital audio, such as sampling and bit depth.
Understanding of how each of the following synthesis algorithms works: Subtractive, AM/RM/FM, Drum, Wavetable, Granular, Physical Modelling, and Additive.
Ability to build each of the synthesis algorithms discussed in this course using simple building blocks in Reaktor.
Ability to program in Reaktor and modify existing synths.
